-The Gale on the Upper Lakes - Ruby reports Shakespeare, Blair and Fox safe, Racine damaged, White Squaw, Miranda, Crooks and Tartar damaged.

-schooner Merchant and schooner Arrow wrecked, Brig Olive Richmond wrecked; schooner Maine ashore. [Chicago Tribune]

-steamer Alliance sunk at Bear Creek in 15' water. [Detroit Inquirer]

-schooner Twin Brothers and prop. Nile wrecked. [Milwaukie Sentinel]
