-Shipwreck & Loss of Life - schooner Defiance of Toronto, owned by Mr. Robert Moodie, freighted with railroad wheels, lost between Niagara and Toronto. [Globe]

-The New Toronto Ship - building by Hayes Brothers - the City of Toronto, 168' x 18' 6" x 32' 6" wide.

-Detroit, April 20 - prop. Oregon explodes boilers and sinks 4 miles above Detroit.

-schooner Defiance safe at Frenchmen's Bay.
