EXCURSION TO OWEN SOUND

Dear Sir-Enclosed please receive a copy of three resolutions passed on board the Clifton 5th August. I have also to state that the Excursion was entirely successful, and I trust will be followed by others. I beg also to thank you, in the name of the Committee, for your kindness in promoting the at affair.

Resolved- That we, the excursionists on board the Steamer Clifton this day, do hereby return our sincere thanks to captain W. M.. Smith for his kindness and urbanity of manner towards us during out trip from Collingwood to Owen Sound and back, and that we most truly appreciate the excellent qualities of his splendid steamer, as well as his generous attention to all our wants.
