OPENING OF NAVIGATION - The ice that has been formed on the bay during the last month shows indications of breaking up, a large portion of it having been moved out a considerable distance during the past few days. Our prospects for a busy season from the lakes are not very bright at present, but we will have our old friend, Captain Smith, with the steamer Clifton, running between here and Owen Sound. We have also the pleasure of announcing that Capt. McLean will again resume his old route to the Sault with a line steamer called the Algoma, a much better vessel than any that has heretofore been used on this route. In addition to these, we learn that Mr. G. H. Wyatt intends to run his new propellor, the Georgian, now in course of construction during the season, between Collingwood and Chicago. There will no doubt be a very large number of sailing crafts, during the summer plying their trade between this port and Chicago, as there is abundance of material laying here ready for shipment to load vessels, should they come for the West, in the shape of railroad ties, telegraph poles, shingle bolts, cordwood &c. Our townsman, Mr. Wolfe, has already purchased a very fine schooner for this trade and is negotiating for a second, which we have no doubt, from his well known energy he will accomplish. On the whole our prospects are not quite as bad as they might be and are somewhat better than anticipated during the earlier part of the winter. - Collingwood Enterprise.
