p.2 Commerce of Chicago - on 28th Oct. there were 2 steamers, 6 props., 7 barques, 17 brigs, 185 schooners, and 51 canal boats at Chicago.

-Wings of the Morning - aground on the Flats. [Detroit Tribune 26th]

-Disasters - schooner L.J. Farwell damaged in storm on Lake Michigan; scow L.B. Goldsmith ashore at Point aux Barques. [ibid]

-Fast Time of a St. Catherines Vessel - Pride of Canada lately built by Shickluna's shipyard performed maiden trip from Chicago to Port Colborne in 5 days 2 hours, now heading for ocean. [St. Catherines Post]
