p.2 Cork Examiner looks at lakes shipping - attracting Admiralty for speed and light draught; gives history of voyages of these craft; the clipper schooner D.C. Pierce has made quickest passage on record between St. Lawrence and Fasque Light, Ireland.

-Arrived at Constantinople - schooner Vanguard, Capt. Davis arrived Oct. 6th, schooner George Dousman was there ready to leave for Danube, barque D.C. Pierce was seen off Gibraltar. [Cleveland Herald]

-The West - a new propeller launched by Cantin for lakes, owned by R.S. Miller of Toronto. [Montreal Comm. Advert.]

-Ashore - schooner H.N. Farnham at Point au Pelee. [Chicago Express 10th]
