p.2 a steamboat is being built by W. Power of Montreal for Messrs. Shepherd, Hopkins, McKenzie and Cummings at Havelock Village, to connect with str. Pontiac near Pembroke.

-Losses on the Lakes - on St. Lawrence and Lakes during 1861 the loss amounted to $302,625 on steamers and $564,722 on sailing vessels; 116 lives were lost; last year 578 were lost.
