The tug George Maythan which left Collingwood on Wednesday night of last week took fire next morning about 5 o'clock while opposite Thornbury, and was soon in flames. There were on board at the time three persons Capt. McNabb, the owner George Caldwell, engineer and boy named John Kerr. Young Kerr pushed the hatch overboard and swam to it leaving the burning boat, and is supposed to be lost. A signal of distress was seen from Meaford when the Government tug Trudeauwent to her assistance and towed her and the two men who were on board, who suffered considerably, to Meaford.
