MIDLAND

The steamer Maganettawan which left Midland on Tuesday 23rd inst. With a cargo of supplies for the lumbermen at Byng Inlet experienced great difficulty in getting into the Inlet having met with heavy ice several miles out-side the harbour, and on returning to Midland found the ice so strong that it was impossible to break through it, and consequently the steamer at present lying some four or five miles from the Midland docks. Communication with he shore however is quite safe , the ice being strong enough to carry men without risk.
