The government should institute a rigid investigation as to the management of steamboats on the upper lakes. The Manitoulin Guide states that on the last trip of the Northern Belle, the vessel was on fire once and aground. We are credibly informed that this vessel has had three narrow escapes from destruction by fire , and the other steamer of the same line at least once since the Manitoulin was burned.
