The J.W. Langmuir - This vessel, Captain Waters, of Toronto, loaded with lumber, was wrecked on the Gallops island on the 2nd instant. The sloop Wanderer of Kingston, Radford & Byrnes, owners, left here on the 6th inst. to endeavour to rescue the cargo, and in the attempt, which lasted eight days, was exposed to very heavy weather which was borne heroically by the crew, the cargo and rigging being eventually secured and brought here today. Captain Waters expresses the greatest satisfaction at the manner in which the wreckers worked during the tempestuous weather, which was so dangerous that reports were circulated that they were lost in their plucky and determined attempt to rescue the cargo and rigging.
