The splendid new steamer made her trial trip on Thursday afternoon with a large party of excursionists, and the Owen Sound Brass Band on board for Collingwood.

The passage to Collingwood was very pleasant although there was a heavy sea which the boat rode with the greatest of steadiness.

The following is the time made by her on her downward trip, although she was not in a trim to a certain her speed.

Left this ort at 1:30 p.m. arrived at Leith at 2:30, arrived at Meaford at 4:50; left at 5:10, arrived at Collingwood at 6:50.

The Frances Smith arrived at her wharf here at 4 o’clock in the morning. She left again at 7 for Collingwood and will continue running on this route during the season.
