p.2 Spring Assizes - Keys vs Dawson - The plaintiff, Keys, was employed by Dawson as master of the ship R.H. Gaskin during two seasons. During the last season the vessel was laid up for a considerable time in consequence of dull times. The action is for a balance of wages due. The defendant presented a general account of all the management of this person during that period. The case is going on. Mr. McIntyre for plaintiff; Mr. Kirkpatrick and Mr. McGuire for defendant.

MARINE

The propeller Cuba is lying at Port Dalhousie for repairs.

St. Lawrence & Chicago Forwarding Co. - Arrived: Schr. Elgin, Toledo, 20,000 corn. No departures.

Montreal Transportation Company - Arrivals: Flora Carveth, Whitby, 12,781 wheat; prop. Prussia, Toledo, 4,493 corn; schr. Myosotis, Milwaukee, 19,000 wheat; Tug Active with four barges. Departures: - tug Active, with barges Eagle, 19,207 corn; Detroit, 19,209 do; Star, 21,000 do; Montreal, 20,000 wheat and corn; Kingston 18,000 peas and wheat; Dalhousie, 16,700 corn; McArthur, 13,258 wheat.

Kingston & Montreal Forwarding Company - Arrivals: Schr. Collin Gearing, Wellington, 6,000 peas; prop. Sovereign, Toledo, 4,360 corn; barge Alice Pacey, Bay of Quinte, 17,000 peas and wheat. Departure for Montreal of last named.

Swift's Wharf - Steamers calling - prop. Dominion, Montreal, general cargo; Armenia, Toronto, do. and passengers; Acadia, Montreal, general cargo; Shickluna, Montreal for Chicago; steam barge Kitty Friel, and a barge, 800,000 lath from Ottawa.

Gunn's Wharf - schr. Vision, lumber, Trenton; steam barge Adventure, wheat, for Montreal; str. Crusoe, Gananoque; Hastings, bay ports; str. Nile arrived with tan bark for Portsmouth, and cleared again for the canal.

p.3 Wind Wafts - New men are being added to the Sailors Union daily. There are not many idle men at present.
