The schr. J.C. Ford brings corn to Kingston from Chicago at 2 1/2 cents per bushel.

The schr. S.H. Dunn is expected at Garden Island tonight with timber from Toledo.

The schr. Gearing is unloading hardwood from Bay of Quinte ports at Breck and Booth's dock.

The prop. Cuba lightened her cargo of wheat here yesterday and proceeded to Montreal.

Four locks in the Cornwall canal broke yesterday and were repaired last night without seriously impeding navigation.

Clearances: tug Thompson and four barges, Montreal, grain; prop. Canada, Chicago, light; schr. Hanlan, Oswego, lumber.

Hall Bros., L'Orignal, have purchased the str. Ida from O. Carus ?, Smith's Falls, and have placed her on the route from Montreal to Westport.

Arrivals: tug Thompson and two barges, Oswego, coal; schr. Singapore, Burlington, wheat; sloop Laura D., Cape Vincent, light; prop. Cuba, Chicago, wheat; tug Thistle, Cape Vincent, light; schr. Eliza Fisher, Charlotte, coal.

A Canal Smash Up.

The steamer Corinthian, bound west, struck the north gate of lock 20, Cornwall, on Thursday night, with great violence and tore it from its fastenings. The barge Corn Crib was locking at the time. The steamer was driven back by the force of the water. The eddy carried her forward immediately and she struck the south gate and damaged it considerably. Word was immediately sent superintendent Ross, and in a very short time the government men were working at the repairs.
