The props Ocean and Cuba were delayed in Cornwall canal by fog yesterday.

The str. Passport passed through this morning for Montreal on her last trip of the season.

The forwarding companies are handling western grain with great despatch here. Delays are impossible.

Arrivals: Fleetwing, Charlotte, coal; tug Walker and barges Minnedosa and Kildonan, Duluth, 97,000 bush. wheat.

Capt. Donnelly came up from Brockville this morning. He experienced little difficulty in raising the Jessie Hall, and the tug is not much the worse of the accident. She will leave here tonight with a tow for Montreal.

There is an obstruction near the entrance of the Cornwall canal at Dickinson's Landing in the shape of boulders raised there by dredges. Several tows have lately stuck and complaint has been made to Ottawa to have the obstructions removed. Prompt action should be taken.

Clearances: sloop Laura, Bath, lumber; sloop Sovereign, Cape Vincent, timber; sloop Mabel, Cape Vincent, timber; sloop Idlewild, Wolfe Island, 1,030 bush. peas; schr. Folger, Oswego, lumber; prop. Tilley, Port Dalhousie, for orders; prop. Myles, Duluth, light; schrs. Neelon and Augusta, Chicago, light.

General Paragraphs - The sloop Idlewild is having a leak repaired at Davis' dry dock.

The sailors of Toronto are trying to force higher wages from the vessel owners, and to make Toronto a union port.

Police Court - William Amand, of the steambarge A.L. Hopkins, Detroit, was fined $1 and costs for drunkenness; L. Tibeau, of the prop. Tilley, Chicago, for the same offence was similarly dealt with.

p.4 Wolfe Island, Sept. 30th - ...Old residents say that they never knew the water in the river to be as low as it is at present. Water cannot be reached from docks that have often been overflown. The ferry wharf cannot now be reached by the boat without ploughing up the bottom, and this week Hitchcock's dock has been used...
