p.4 The Fleet Is Flying - The Canadian marine is now very nearly what it was eighteen years ago. The annual report of the department of marine shows a decrease from last year of 102 vessels, 15,507 tons, the present registry being 6,691 vessels and 1,024,974 tons. The Canadian marine on the lakes is mostly old, and every season now will greatly lessen it. From the lakes the English flag is disappearing as rapidly as the Stars and Stripes have from the ocean. [Chicago Inter-Ocean]

Lost With All Aboard - Chicago, Oct. 3rd - The loss of the schooner Frank Perew off White Fish Point, Lake Superior, with a crew of nine on board is now generally accepted. The Perew was commanded by Capt. J. Marquery (Macquery ?) of Bay City, Mich.
