MARINE INTELLIGENCE.

Prop. Escanaba passed Port Dalhousie last night for Kingston.

Clearances: schrs. Snow Bird, Eliza White and Carveth, Bay of Quinte for grain.

The schr. Neelon, which broke loose from her tow barge, the Tilley, on Lake Superior a week ago, and about which there has been some uneasiness, is reported safe under White Fish Point on the north shore.

The prop. Canada broke the sill of one of the locks in the Morrisburg canal on Saturday last. A diver was sent down and after considerable difficulty the break was repaired. The break delayed the prop. Persia and a race resulted between Brockville and Prescott in which the Canada distanced the Persia by ten minutes.

Arrivals: schr. Eliza White, Cobourg, peas and barley; schr. Flora Carveth, Port Darlington,15,000 bushels barley; tug Active, Montreal, with four barges; schr. Laura D., Consecon, barley; str. Khartoum, Consecon, barley; sloop Idlewild, Howe Island, oats; sloop Lia, Wolfe Island, barley; str. John Haggart, South Bay, apples for Perth.

The steam barge Alberta, of Cape Vincent, is again engaged in transferring baled hay from up the river ports to Ogdensburg. The Alberta is the same vessel from which a whole deck load of hay was dumped into the river above Chippewa Bay last fall. The boat lurched heavily in a sea, and the bales went overboard. Most of it was picked up and used by farmers on the American side.

General Paragraphs - barge Manitoba and tug Edmond are on Davis' dry dock for general repairs.

News In Small Lots - The derrick for the erection of the chimney of the pump house at the dry dock is nearly completed. The chimney will be ninety-four feet high and the blocks of stone on the top will weigh three tons each.

The Toronto men engaged for roofing the pump house at the dry dock have been detained from their work for the past week owing to the mason work not being completed.
