The str. Calvin, Buffalo, arrived in port today.

The str. Hero will be dry-docked at Davis'.

The schr. Grantham will go into winter quarters.

The props. Erin and Maggie are being laid up at Tonawanda.

The schr. B.W. Folger will make another trip to Oswego this fall.

p.1 General Paragraphs - The whaleback C.W. Wetmore, here in the the summer, is now at Astoria, Oregon, in a damaged state. The steamer Zambezi picked her up in a disabled condition towed her to port and claims $10,000.

Incidents of the Day - The new pumping engine at the dry dock was again tested last night.

p.1 Incidents of the Day - The iron ore gang were engaged in removing buoys from the harbor yesterday.

The str. St. Lawrence will be put in the new drydock in a few days. The engines were kept engaged in pumping out the water during last night.



Many Brockville people visited the wreck of the str. Oregon, on a shoal near the Nine Mile light, on Monday afternoon. It is believed that the whole of the keel of the Oregon is in very bad shape. It is said that H.D. Millan, jr., Cape Vincent, pilot, in charge when the accident occurred, has disappeared. He piloted the steamer George King, and put her on a shoal near the Sister Light, but the boat managed to get off without sustaining (missing)

p.1 General Paragraphs - The schr. B.W. Folger will load coal for Collinsby.

Owing to delay in getting unloaded the schr. Fleet Wing cannot make the run to Presqu'Isle (Presque Isle), and will lay up here.

Incidents of the Day - The Connollys have a claim of $200,000 against the government for the Kingston drydock.

The Connollys docked their own tug for repairs in the drydock. The arrangements were found to be perfect.

p.4 Interesting Items By Wire - The schooner Flora Carveth, loaded with coal, went ashore near the Whitby lighthouse Monday night and is lying in ten feet of water.

Navigation through the Welland canal will be closed tonight.
