p.1 Fall Assizes - Non-Jury List - Collinsby rafting and forwarding company vs. John Doty engine company - Action for failure in a contract in connection with the supplying of machinery for the steamer Isaac May. The judgement will be by consent.


The schooners Flora Carveth and Jamieson will clear for Toronto today.

Arrivals: tug Bronson, Montreal, five barges; schr. Collier, Burlington, 7,600 bushels wheat.

Clearances: tug Bronson, Montreal, four laden barges; str. Tilley with consorts Nelson (Neelon ?) and Benson, Charlotte, to load coal for Fort William; schr. Robert McDonald, bay ports, light.

Capt. Augustus piloted the str. Ocean up the bay route on Wednesday night. The steamer started out up the lake, but such a terrific gale was blowing outside she turned back.

Capt. D. Noonan intends building a new boat this winter as he claims the Rideau Belle is too small for freight, although she is a first class boat in every respect for the comfort of passengers.

p.2 Wolfe Island Township Council - Oct. 3rd - Present, the reeve and councillors Vaness, Kinsley and Niles. Moved by John Kinsley, seconded by John Niles, and resolved, in regard to the account of E. McCarthy for $10 for damages sustained through ferry boat not making any 8:30 a.m. trip on the morning of Aug. 8th, and in regard to representatives of the Methodist church, who sustained damages amounting to $25 or $30 owing to the boat not making a regular trip from the city on 14th Sept., thereby preventing speakers from attending and addressing their picnic, the reeve be empowered to enforce collection of the same.
