The schr. Burton, Oswego, is in with a cargo of coal at Garden Island.

The schr. B.W. Folger from Oswego is unloading 200 tons of coal at Wolfe Island.

The str. Empire State had a large crowd of passengers up from the islands this morning.

The steamer Empire State, with the Carleton Place excursionists, ran from Kingston to Brockville in four hours.

Joseph Deroche, mate of the schr. Singapore, will go back on the schr. B.W. Folger for the balance of the season.

The str. H.A. Calvin was sent to the relief of the str. Bohemian yesterday. She will be used in connection with the pontoons.

Capt. Towers, manager of the western division of the R. & O. N. Co., arrived from Coteau today. He says the str. Bohemian is now ready for a pull.

Thomas Crossley, son of G.T.R. station agent Crossley, Brockville, has accepted the position of engineer on the str. Bannockburn, the new vessel for the Montreal transportation co.

Arrivals: str. Spartan, Toronto; str. Niagara, Montreal; schr. Burton, Oswego, coal; schr. Fabiola, Charlotte, coal; schr. Mitchell, Chicago, 56,000 bushels corn; prop. Sibley, Washburn, 50,000 bush. corn and rye.

Clearances: prop. Shickluna, Ashtabula, light; prop. Waverly, Chicago, light; prop. Rhoda Emily, Oswego, to load coal; schr. Leighton, Oswego, light; schr. Worts, Ashtabula, light; sloop Laura D., Cape Vincent, hay; str. Argonaut, Chicago, light; prop. Folson, Ogdensburg.

Expect Much Business - The Wolfe Island canal will be dredged. The islanders think that when the Canadian tariff is raised and the American tariff altered there will be a great deal of business done by boats plying between Cape Vincent and Kingston.
