The str. Armenia and barge S.H. Dunn, Toledo to Kingston with timber, passed through the Welland Canal last night.

Arrivals: str. Spartan, Toronto; str. Passport, Montreal; str. James Swift, Ottawa; str. Niagara, Toledo, 25,000 bush. wheat; schr. Falconer, Charlotte, coal; prop. Denver, Chicago, 65,000 bush. corn.

Clearances: schr. Manitowac, Buffalo, light; schr. Scotia, Chicago, light; str. Josephine, Oswego, towing schr. Parker; prop. Fay, Chicago; str. Blanchard, Duluth; schr. Laura D., Cape Vincent, shingles.

R. Davis returned from Prescott today. Mr. Davis states that his chances are good for getting the str. City of Belleville to rebuild. The work will be awarded in a few days. If Mr. Davis gets the job he will bring the boat to the city and start the work at once so as to get the steamer finished before fall. At least twenty men will be engaged on the job.
