p.5 Deseronto, Dec. 12th - The schooner Loretta Rooney, owned by Capt. Hinckley, has been hauled out on the marine railway for the winter. The steamers Ella Ross, Deseronto, and Reliance have gone into winter quarters, the steamer Deseronto making her last trip between Deseronto and Picton on Thursday afternoon. The bay is pretty well frozen over, but the tug Rescue with her ice breaker on continues keeping a passage open for the steambarge Resolute, which is soon expected from Oswego......By the aid of the tug Rescue the steambarge Resolute arrived Friday afternoon....

p.6 The Porter Abandoned - Captain Herbert Parsons, late of this city, commanded the barge Porter, which broke away from the steamer Aragan off Lunenburg, N.S., recently. The Porter was abandoned in a sinking condition. The Porter was a lake-built craft, chartered by the Atlantic transportation company, and was one of the craft taken down the St. Lawrence this fall by the Donnelly company.
STEAMER BURNED IN ICE.
Cleveland, Dec. 13th - While the steamer Aurora was towing the barge Aurania through a big field of ice near Bar Point, Lake Erie, yesterday, fire broke out on the Aurora and she had to be scuttled to prevent her total destruction. She sank in about twenty feet of water.
She was loaded with wheat and the cargo will be a total loss. She is valued at $125,000.
The fate of the crew is unknown, but it is supposed that they escaped on the ice. The Aurora is owned by John Corrigan, of this city, and was commanded by Capt. Gain.
