In harbor some twenty boats are waiting to dock.

The steamer Persia is at St. Catherines to load flour for Montreal.

The schooner Mowat cleared yesterday afternoon for Oswego to load coal for Hamilton.

The barges Armand and Alberta are loading grain at Richardsons' elevator for Montreal.

H. Anson Cartwright, Belleville, has sold his yacht Curlew to Mr. Lovering, of Georgian Bay.

The sloop Idlewild, from bay ports, unloaded grain at Richardsons' elevator this morning.

The tug Thomson cleared for Charlotte today with two barges to load coal for Montreal.

The schooner Falconer cleared from Cobourg today for Charlotte to load coal for Swift & Co.

The schooner Aberdeen and barge, from Prescott, passed up this morning bound for bay ports.

The tug Nellie Reid and consort, coal laden, from Charlotte, are at Booth & Co's wharf, unloading.

The steamer India and consort Ceylon, timber laden, from Toronto, are expected to arrive at Garden Island to-night.

The tugs Glide and Bronson cleared from the M.T. company elevator to-day with eight grain-laden barges for Montreal.

J. Cherry, Barriefield, left to-day for Picton, to help fit out the steamer Alexandria, on which he will sail as first mate.

Richard Arnot, Belleville, purchased the schooner Volunteer at Kingston. The vessel is on the ways at Deseronto for repairs.

Inspectors R. Chestnut and J.R. Molther, of Oswego, are in the city for the purpose of inspecting the steamers North King and Hero.

Foster's new boat being built at Smith's Falls is about completed. It is a steam scow and will be used in carrying coal from Oswego.

The schooner M.A. Lydon entered the government drydock this morning to receive repairs to damages caused by going ashore on Point Frederick Wednesday morning.

When the schooner Lydon ran on the shoal opposite Point Frederick yesterday, she was racing with the schooner Mowat, each trying to get to the M.T. company elevator first.

Last year the excursion business done on the river by the steamers of the white squadron was the largest for many years, and it is expected that the traffic will be as great this year.

The government pontoon left Port Dalhousie to ship the two gates at lock twenty-four. There will be no locking until the gates are placed and the return of the pontoons which probably means a couple of days or more.

The steamer Porter, raised by the Donnelly wrecking company, near Quebec, last fall, and later sold to Mr. Hepburn, of Picton, has been thoroughly overhauled, and was launched at Picton to-day. She will be used in the lumber trade.

Over $1000 was spent during the winter in improvements on the steamer James Swift. The company is bound to give its patrons the very best accommodation possible. The steamer is now in Davis' dry-dock, having a new wheel put on.

After the first trip to Ottawa next Tuesday, the steamer James Swift is to leave Kingston on Tuesdays and Fridays at one o'clock, instead of at six o'clock on Mondays and Thursdays as formerly. The steamer Rideau Queen will run on the James Swift's old time.

The Rideau navigation company will have a sister boat for the steamer Rideau Queen built at Davis' dry-dock this summer. The steamer James Swift will then be used for excursion purposes, being altered for that business. The Rideau route is becoming better known year by year as the grandest waterway in America, in fact in the world, and the travel on it is ever increasing.

To Leave Sunday - Sunday evening next the staunch and reliable steamer North King will steam out of port, and begin her season's run between Charlotte, N.Y., Port Hope, Kingston and the Thousand Islands. During the past winter the steamer was thoroughly overhauled and renovated from smoke stack to keelson. Her machinery was improved so as to increase her speed and her boilers strengthened that more steam might be carried with safety. The sleeping apartments of the crew were improved in such a manner as to provide greater space for each man. Altogether the North King resumes her trips as a modern boat. Her crew will be the same as that commanding last year. A successful season is looked for and no doubt will be forthcoming as each season the trips of this famous steamer become popular.

p.8 Undergone Inspection - The steamer Hero today underwent inspection by Messrs. Molther and Chestnut, United States government inspectors. The steamer North King was tested yesterday. Both boats were found in a satisfactory condition, fully complying with the requirements of the United States marine laws.

Ready For Launching - The big steel steambarge Ottawa, 268 feet long, with a carrying capacity of 80,000 bushels, is ready for launching from the Bertram shipyards. She is owned by the Canada Atlantic company and will run between Port Arthur and Parry Sound. Alexander Birnie will be captain and George Booth, of Kingston, engineer. Her cost will be about $175,000.
