Oswego Fleet

Oswego's change from a commercial to a manufacturing city is best illustrated by a glance at the list of craft composing the Oswego fleet which sailed in and out of our harbor during the 70's The capacity of the schooners was between 20,000 and 25,000 bushels. The present steamer entering the port of Oswego carry from 50,000 to 80,000 bushels. Of th 88 odd vessels, many of them magnificent schooners of their day but four remain, one the Oliver Mitchell." does not call here any more and the Hoboken, John Magee and Bolivia ae used as barges to carry coal to Montreal.
