WORKING AT INTAKE PIPE

Work at the intake pipe is proceeding slowly, but quite satisfactorily. A small leak has been discovered at the outer valve, the cover of which will have to be removed to repair it. The 150 feet of pipe outside the curb has been found to be tight. The large leak has not yet been located. On Friday the strong wind made progress very slow. In the afternoon Diver Murphy took ill but expected to resume work in the morning. It may possibly take all next week to go over the pipe. In the meantime shore water is being pumped and the people are warned to continue boiling all water for drinking purposes.
