p.2 The Union steamer arrived here from Bytown on Monday evening with an extensive cargo of Merchandise, and fifty cabin passengers, amongst whom was Col. By, who we were happy to see in perfect health, after his long and perplexing excursion. [Kingston Chronicle, Aug. 25th]

Mr. Drummond's new boat the Rideau, arrived here yesterday in order to receive her Engine. She is a beautiful model, measuring eighty feet in length, and twenty-seven in breadth; has excellent accommodation for fourteen gentlemen and eight ladies. She is expected to make her trips upon the Canal in about a month hence. [ibid]
