p.2 Welland Canal Election - The annual election of Directors of this corporation, for the ensuing year, was held at the Company's officie, in this village, on the 6th inst., when the following named gentlemen, were duly returned, by the Shareholders - viz.: Wm. Hamilton Merritt, Esq., of St. Catharines, and George Keefer, Esq., of Thorold - who, together with the Hon. J.S. Macaulay, of Toronto, the Hon. John Willson, of Saltfleet, and Doct. Joseph Hamilton, of Queenston, Directors on the part of the Government now constitute the Board. On the 8th, Mr. Merritt was appointed President of the Company. [St. Catharines Journal, April 23rd]

letter of thanks from Cataraqui Bridge Co. to all who helped during late fire; especially to Capt. Sandom of R.N. and his officers, seamen and marines for help in putting out fire on bridge and vessel.
