Excursion to Cape Vincent, French Creek, Gananoque and the Thousand Islands, on board the new and splendid steamer Comet, Captain Platt. - for the Weslayan Methodist Sabbath School - details of route, tickets, and names of Managing Committee.

Died - At his residence, at Hamilton, on Monday the 6th inst., Abel Land, Esq., aged 61 years.... He was one of the first Forwarders in this section of the country, and conducted the business for upwards of 30 years.


At a Meeting held at Belanger's this evening, for the purpose of making arrangements for a Regatta, Lieut. Davis, R.N., was called to the Chair, and Mr. S.D. Fowler appointed Secretary, it was resolved that a Regatta do take place

On Friday, the 15th September,

and that the following prizes be contended for:

Sailing Boats

1st Class, for Boats of 15 Tons and under, Prize £25 0 0 Entrance, £5 0 0

2nd do. do. 10 do. 12 10 0 2 10 0

3rd do. do. 5 do. 7 10 0 1 5 0

4th do. do. 18 ft. long & under 2 10 0 0 5 0

Scow Race, open to all Scows 2 10 0 0 10 0

Row Boats

1st Class, 12 oared match, Prize £12 10 0 Entrance £1 10 0

2nd 6 7 10 0 1 0 0

3rd 4 5 0 0 0 15 0

4th 2 2 10 0 0 5 0

Skiff Race for the championship of the Bay; one pair of Sculls.

Prize 10 0 0 Entrance 1 0 0

2nd 5 0 0 0 10 0

3rd 2 10 0 0 5 0

The Skiff winning the championship to be excluded from the other skiff races.

Sculling Match, for one oar, open to all, 1 5 0 Entrance free

Match for Market Boats, do. 1 5 0 do.

In all the Matches, three Boats to start, or no race.

Second boat to save entrance.

All arrangements to be made by the Stewards, whose decision in all cases to be final. Boats to be entered on or before the 15th Sept.

The following gentlemen were appointed Stewards, with power to add to their number: - The Mayor, the Member for the City, the Member for the County, the Sheriff, Major Crofton, 20th Regt., Lieut. Davis, R.N., Henry Gildersleeve, Esq., William Wilson, Esq., Capt. Gaskin. S.D. Fowler was appointed Secretary and Treasurer.
