The inhabitants of this village are requested to meet at Pomeroy's Coffee-House on Friday evening next, at 6 o'clock for the purpose of taking into consideration the importance of improving the harbor at this Port and adopting such measures as shall then be deemed proper.

We are sorry to hear from lake Ontario that four schooners were driven ashore and lost near Cape Vincent, during the late violent gales. Considerable damage has been sustained in the loss of property, but happily the lives of all on board were saved.
