New upper cabins and staterooms 1849 (previously 30 passengers in cabins). ` Main deck now all clear for deck passengers. Advertised direct trip to California gold rush to leave Montreal November 1850; voyage cancelled. Illegally condemned by U.S. Customs 1852 for "breach of revenue laws"; later found false accusation but vessel kept in U.S. nevertheless.
