119x22x10 Owned by St. Lawrence Steamboat Co. 1867; F. Samson, LĂ©vis 1871. Built by F. Samson "Quebec South" (Levis) 1865. Towboat below Montreal, known as "Hercules No. 1". Gunboat in "Fenian Troubles". Sent hastily into action 03/06/66 armored with sandbags and manned by 60 ratings from H.M.S. "Aurora" that happened to be at Quebec. Given one 12-pdr and 3 6-pdr. guns. Fully converted to gunboat at Montreal September 1866: timber screens fore and aft lined with iron; 5 guns. Last used 1883.
