Government Notice.

STEAM BOAT TRANSPORT

On Lake Ontario,

For the Year 1846.

Sealed Tenders will be received at the Commissariat Office, Kingston, until Tuesday, the 24th February, 1846, from any person or persons willing to enter into a Contract, agreeably to certain conditions, which may be seen on application at the Commissariat Offices at Kingston and Toronto, for the following Services, viz:-

For the Transport of Troops,

persons attached to the Army, Baggage, Horses, and Government Stores, during the season of Navigation of 1846.

From Kingston to Toronto and vice versa, including the various Posts between these two Stations.

From Kingston to the Bay of Quinte, and vice versa, including the Ports between these two Stations.

Separate Tenders will be required for each Service, and the rates to be stated in Currency.

Parties tendering will observe that the Freight of Regimental Baggage, and the Personal Baggage and Camp Equipment of officers and others, is to be ascertained by Measurement; every 2 1/2 Tons measurement, to be considered equal to one Ton weight, and payment to be made for each Ton weight so ascertained.

Household Furniture, Carriages and other articles not comprised in the above, and all personal Baggage in excess of the quantity allowed by Regulation, to be computed, at the option of the Contractor, by weight or measurement, according to Mercantile usage, and paid for at Tariff or Commercial rates.

Unexceptionable Security, subject to the approval of the Senior Commissariat Officer, will be required, and the real signatures of two responsible persons willing to enter into a Bond, with the principal, for the faithful performance of the service, must be given in the Tender.

Payment will be made in Mexican or United States Dollars at 5s. 4 d. Cy. each, or by a Check on a Chartered Bank, at the option of the Senior Commissariat Officer.
