- Description
- Photograph of a small fleet of vessels tied up at a wooden pier about 1890. The steam barge H. HOUGHTEN is centre-left. Inside her is the schooner MAIZE. A plank leads from the deck of the MAIZE to another schooner lying alongside the pier. Another steam barge lies behind the HOUGHTEN with steam up. At the far end of the pier is the BAHAMA with a steamer looming behind her.
The image is titled a Lumber Tow by the Detroit Pubishing Company even though there is currently no lumber in sight. - Notes
- The H. HOUGHTEN was launched in 1889 and had her pilot house moved to the forecastle in 1891.
