Chicago, Sept. 26 Dense fog prevails today on Lake Huron, extending past Sault Ste Marie and Mackinaw City. While the storm of Wednesday has completely passed over, navigation is being seriously delayed by the fog which succeeded it. Underwriters are fearful of disastrous strandings on account of the fog banks.
Schooner Barr Founders
Chicago, Sept. 26. An underwriters' dispatch states that the schooner H.A. Barr foundered on Lake Erie, off Port Stanley, in this recent storm. The crew reached Buffalo early today. The Barr was under charter to the Clergue syndicate and was carrying are from the mines to Ohio port.
Wreck Sighted by Rome
Detroit Mich Sept. Capt. Dennis of the steamer Rome reports having sighted the wreck of the schooner H.A. Barr, which sank twenty-five miles east of Rondeau, directly on the course of vessels between the dummy light and Buffalo. The foremast and mainmast project above the water to the crosstrees and the mizzenmast is broken off. The steamer Theano had the Barr in tow, was circling round the wreck some miles away. The Theano and Barr were bound from Lake Superior with iron ore cargoes.
