Steamer Charles Hebard Said to Have Been Wrecked on Copper Point Lake Superior's

Chicago Dec. 1. An underwriter's report, reaching here from Sault Ste. Marie this afternoon, says that the steamer Charles Hebard was wrecked and has been pounded to pieces by a heavy sea, at Copper Point, Lake Superior. The dispatch bears no tiding concerning the steamer's crew. It is understood that the schooners Aloha and Anabell Wilson consorts of the wrecked steamer escaped destruction and are riding the storm safely near the scene of the wreck.

The Hebard is a wooden steamer, built in 1888, and registering 763 tons, She was owned by Luther P. Graves of Buffalo.
