DISABLED.--As the propeller Mendota, of the New York Central line, was coming up Monday night, about 11 o'clock, when five miles below Malden, she broke her main shaft, and consequent upon that drove her piston through the cylinder head, nearly or quite ruining the cylinder. The engine was an oscillating one, manufactured at the Cuyahoga Works, had been used about a year and was considered one of the best. It will probably take six weeks or two months to repair it, and the cargo will consequently be discharged. She was bound for Chicago and had on a very load.
