Wilson, Treasurer 19th September, 1996 * * * Editor's Note to the Financial Statement: It gives us pleasure to present for the members' inspection the financial report for the fiscal year 1995-1996 for the Toronto Marine Historical Society. It will be noted that we sustained a small loss on the year, but our bank balance is such that we need not consider any increase in member ship fees at this time. Unfortunately, although our income was up over that of the previous year, the cost of producing and mailing "Scanner" increased substantially. We will investigate methods of decreasing cost without sacrificing quality. We ex tend sincere thanks to those who help us to combat ever-increasing postal rates by volunteering to deliver "Scanner" to members in their area. We also very much appreciate the generosity of those who donated historical mate rials for sale at meetings for the benefit of the Society and, likewise, of the purchasers. The sale of donated items will continue in the coming year. Attendance at the May Dinner Meeting increased substantially from the pre vious year, partially because of a more convenient date. We still feel that members attending the dinner receive very good meal and entertainment value for their banquet dollars, and we strongly urge those who have not attended in the past to give it a try next spring and enjoy a great evening. As always, we extend sincere thanks to Bill Wilson for tending to the books of the Society for yet another year and for serving as menu arranger for our Annual Dinner Meeting.
