XXXII - NO. 8____________________________________________________________ MAY 2000 MEETINGS The April Meeting was a field trip featuring a tour of Port Weller Dry Docks. We had 55 members and guests in attendance, including many members from far afield, and we enjoyed a most interesting visit to the shipyard. We saw RT. HON. PAUL J. MARTIN nearing completion at the fit-out wall, ALGOEAST in the drydock, and the first sections of Hull 79, the yard's next new main- body for a CSL seIf-unloader, the keel of which was laid only three days earlier. We extend our most sincere thanks to Jeff Clarke, of the shipyard's Health and Safety Department, for serving as our tour guide, and to David Bull, programme chairman, for arranging the tour. And to the shipyard for allowing a large group of camera-wielding, shipping enthusiasts to invade the yard for several hours. Our next meeting will be held the first Friday in October, and will feature members' slides of their summer shipwatching activities. Please see the Mid- Summer Issue for details. By the time this issue appears in print, our May Dinner Meeting will be his tory, and we will have enjoyed yet another dinner aboard JADRAN. Our thanks to Clive Dudley for the programme, to David Bull for arranging the pro gramme, and to Bill Wilson for the arrangements with the restaurant and for selling tickets. Your Editor now begins a much-needed vacation from the keyboard. Please look for the Mid-Summer issue to come your way during August and, in the meantime, enjoy your own summer of boatwatching in your favourite spots. Maybe we'll see you there! But if not, have a good summer, and we'll see you in October. * * * * * * * ISSN 0318-014X
