Wilson, Treasurer 7th September, 2001 * * * Editor's Note to the Financial Statement: It gives us pleasure to present for the inspection of the members the finan cial report of the Toronto Marine Historical Society for the fiscal year 2000-2001. We had a bit of a surplus, and the bank balance is entirely sa tisfactory. We need not consider any increase in membership fees at this point in time. The main reason for this favourable situation is the continued success of our annual silent auction. This is a credit not only to those who have dona ted items for sale, but also to those who have purchased them. But we need to note that our membership base has been slipping as older mem bers pass on. We need to encourage our friends to join T. M. H. S.; more members need to deliver "Scanner" to friends in their areas, and we must re member that another postal rate increase is coming in January. As always, thanks to Bill Wilson for tending to the T. M. H. S. books for ano ther year, as well as for receiving memberships and for serving as site and menu arranger for the Annual Dinner Meeting.
