GREAT LAKE MEMORIES 10. In June of 1932, the Great Lakes Transit Corporation sent TIONESTA down the new Welland Ca nal on an excursion to Toronto. Here she is seen heading back upbound in Lock Seven. She was a victim of the Great Depression and in 1940 was towed to Hamilton for scrapping, her life cut far too short. She had been built in 1903 at Wyandotte, Michigan, the first of three sisterships. The other two were JUNIATA (1903) and OCTORARA (1910). * * * * * * *
