Marine hospital petitions are circulating in this city asking Congress to erect and maintain a Marine Hospital at this point. A stronger and better founded claim for such an establishment can not be urged upon the attention of Congress.
The petition sets forth truly, that there is no Marine Hospital on the American side of Lake Ontario or the river St. Lawrence; also that the tonnage entering and clearing at Oswego in 1851, amounted to 1,807,176 tons, and the number of men employed to 54,186 the total value of our imports and exports for 1851, is stated in the petition at $22,595,246.
