- p>Rochester Harbor. - It is gratifying to be able to state that measures have at length been taken for constructing the important piers at the junction of the Genesee River and Lake Ontario, (Charlotte) with materials of suitable quality. The trashy stone so long and inexcusably use, is discarded for an article of the best quality, to be brought from Chaumont Bay, about 100 miles from this city by schooners on Lake Ontario.
About 3,000 tons have been just ordered; and we doubt not at the work will in future be such that we shall not feel ourselves called upon to mention it so frequently, at least no with censure.
If the present appropriations are adequate for the re-construction of the beacon swept away from the harbor last year, no delay should be allowed in that work-as it is demanded by the interests of the navigation of the lakes.
