_____This popular company ranks among the first in this or any other country, and their boats compare favorably with those of any of our inland seas, or rivers. Their summer arrangements are complete, rendering the greatest facilities to travelers, as well as the greatest inducements. There could be no course of comfort, after a long, tedious and monotonous railroad passage, equal to a trip upon one of the noble, majestic and palace-like steamboats of this company. If rest and ease are required, there is no home better adapted to the desired object. If pleasure or recreation are sought, what route could be selected more desirable?
The Company has recently published a work designed, and well adapted, to aid and interest the tourist, entitled, “The Ontario and St. Lawrence Steamboat Company’s Hand Book for Travelers to Niagara Falls, Montreal and Quebec, and through Lake Champlain to Saratoga Springs; Illustrated with Maps and Engravings from Original Sketches,” by Capt. James Van Cleve. This valuable book is neatly executed, and reflects much credit upon Capt. Van Cleve, the Treasurer, and managing Director of the Company.
The route by way of the Oswego and Syracuse Railroad to and from the eastern cities, will be found the shortest and most desirable of any of the numerous thoroughfares. We are gratified to learn that the business of tis line of steamers was never more flourishing than now.
