Marine Disaster. - Capt. Cochran, of the schooner Pearl, who arrived here yesterday, reports that he boarded a vessel capsized, floating on her beam ends, at about 7 o’clock yesterday morning, some eight miles from shore, off Pultneyville, which he found to be the schooner Anawan, with no one to be found about her. Her sails were spread, and her boat still attached to the vessel. There had been heavy squalls a few hours previous, and Capt. Cochran thinks the Captain and crew, consisting of fie men, wee from all appearances, lost. The Anawan was owned by Mr. C. Smyth, Jr. of this city, and insured, we understand, for $1,300. She cleared light from the port for Presque Isle, Canada, at 8 o’clock on Monday evening.
The scow sloop, J. Latham, of this port, went ashore on Monday night about eleven o’clock in Baldwin’s Bay, some two miles below this harbor. She had on board a cargo of lumber and shingles to Geo. W. Rathbun, of this city. Captain and crew reached he shore in safety, and it is thought the Latham may be got off without much damage. No insurance.
