Steamboat United States. - This elegant Steamer left our port Tuesday evening last, on a trip to the head of the Lake to make her arrangements for the remainder of the season. She is indeed a boat of beautiful and workmanship, not quite as large as the Great Britain, but much better finished. She measures 130 feet keel, 55 feet in width, main deck 145 feet, and promenade 230. Ladies cabin with state-rooms entire; Fore and A Cabins, with state-rooms and berths. She is propelled by two low-pressure engines of 80 horsepower each, and commanded by Elias T. Trowbridge.
In the afternoon before leaving, Capt. Trowbridge favored the public with a ride as far as Morristown and back. Most of our respectable citizens availed themselves of this opportunity for a few hours of recreation, and being accompanied by the band, which played at intervals during the passage, the trip was rendered highly pleasant and gratifying. We wish the boat and its enterprising owners success.
