Port Ontario-- The Navy Commissioners have decided to build a Light House at this port on the Salmon River, in this county, and Gen. Gould of Rochester the Superintendent of Light Houses on Lake Ontario , passed through town a few days since for Port Ontario to make a location. It will be recollected that an appropriation of $3000 was obtained from Congress last Winter to construct this work.

We learn by the Rochester Republican that the same commissioners have decided against the application to build a light House at Big Sandy Creek, and that they have also arranged for an extensive survey of the whole coasts of the U. States on the lakes as well as on the seaboard, with the view of benefiting the navigation by erecting light houses buoys. &c. – Mr. Francis Mallaby is surveying officer for Lake Ontario and Lieut. Pendergast for Lake Erie.
