Shipwreck on Lake Ontario-- The schr. Josephine capt. Hart of Oswego, arrived at the mouth of the Genesee yesterday, reports that on Monday, between Oak Orchard Creek and Eighteen Mile Creek about five miles from the shore, he discovered a vessel laying broad side, and nearly all under water. He boarded her, found her hatches made fast, her canvass all set and no person on board. She appeared to be a Canadian vessel of about 100 tons bottom painted white—other paintings white, black and green, with red stripes. Capt. Hart thinks she must have had a full freight as she lay so low in the water, but could not get at the hatches--her for rigging newly tarred. He took her in tow and held her several hour , but the wind increasing he was obliged to let go. He has brought in the yawl which was with her, and left it with Capt. Latta, at the mouth of the Genesee River. There can be no doubt that all on board have perished, as there could have been no way to escape but by the yawl, which was found with her. She was probably upset in the squall on Sunday last.---

We learn by the steamer Telegraph, from Rochester, which arrived here on Monday morning, that the above mentioned wreck had been towed into the Genesee River, and proved to be the schooner Union, of Port Hope, Upper Canada. No lives were lost, the persons on board having been taken off by some vessel.
