Along the Docks. Rough Experience on Lake Michigan.

Last week Monday, the fishing tug Truscott went out from Washington Island to lift nets. She got caught in the ice and could not get out. The next day the crew, all except Capt. Peter Jordan and J. S. Gagnon, went ashore on the ice, these two gentlemen remaining to take care of the boat and to try and get her out. On Wednesday she was driven out into the lake together with the ice by a heavy north-east sea. While being thus roughly handled the boat commenced to leak badly and it was only with the greatest difficulty that she could be kept clear enough of water to keep her afloat. Bey dint of the hardest labor the two men succeeded in steaming the boat as far as the canal, reaching here at night in an utterly exhausted condition. Capt. Anderson, of the L.S. Station and Chas. Chapman and Alphonse Gattle of the light house and fog signal service, to Messrs. Jordan and Gagnon in charge, put them to bed and took care of their boat for them. The are loud in their praise of the treatment received at the hands of these gentlemen. Ives Bros. made some repairs to the machinery of the boat, and she was taken home again last Friday, and will undergo thorough repairs before again going into service. It was a close call, and Messrs. Jordan and Gagnon do not care to go through its equal again.
