Local Happenings At about 1 o'clock this morning Leathem & Smith's mill was discovered to be on fire. The shrill tooting of the steamer Welcome's whistle aroused our citizens and the fire department was soon making its way to the fire, but before they reached the foot of the hill it had been extinguished by the crew of the Welcome. The origin of the fire is supposed to have been a spark from the Welcome.
