SUPERIOR, of North West Steamship Co., Ltd., Is at Port Weller for scrapping, not at Hamilton as reported earlier. H.L. WTATT Is being scrapped at Port Colborne. The wooden bulkheads were removed by fire. The vessel is sunk In the Welland Canal after being flooded through holes cut low in the hull at the bow by propeller wash from passing ships. OUTARDE, of the Quebec and Ontario Transportation Co., Ltd., Montreal, is slated to go to the scrappers.The vessel Is at present laid up in Victoria Basin, Montreal. CEMENTKARRIER was lengthened fifty feet at Lauzon, Quebec during thQUEDOCewas towed to Toronto early in May. She has been renamed H.S.&G. NO. IX, and will be converted to a self-unloading barge for the sand trade, contrary to earlier reports that she would become a self-propelled motor vessel. HEMLOCK, formerly of the Cargo Carriers, Inc. fleet,and JAMES P. WALSH, previously a part of the Pioneer Steamship Company fleet, are being scrapped at Milwaukee by Afram Brothers. WALLACEBURG and JUDGE KEKEFICK have been purchased by the Chatham Clay Products Co., Ltd. of Chatham, Ontario. No name changes have been announced. Stacks are black with a yellow band. WHEAT KING, ex LLANDAFF, has arrived at Port Weller for conversion to a bulk carrier in the grain trade for Upper Lakes. No work was done in Great Britain, as reported earlier, as the vessel was drydocked for inspection only. ROCKLIFFE HALL has been lengthened ninety feet; SOUTHCLIFFE HALL has been diesalized. The tanker TRANSPAN, (a) QUINNEBAUG, built in 19^7 at Jacksonville, Florida, has been purchased by Hall Corp. from Seatankers, Inc. of Monrovia, Liberia, and has been renamed (c) RIVER TRANSPORT. She is registered at Nassau, B.W.I. Canada Import Company, owners of Liquefuels Ltd., have purchased the tanker TEMBLADGR, built in 19^3 at Duluth, from the Creole Petroleum Corp. of Caracas, Venezuela. The vessel is presently registered in Panama, and her dimensions are 3 >^01 g.t., 355 feet long, 60 feet wide, and 17.6 feet depth. The canal sized tankers that Liquefuels has had under charter will probably not be needed too much longer. Huron Cement Company*s new vessel H.R. SCHEMM, ex AMOCO, has been taken to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, under her own power. She will be. converted by Christy Corporation there and is scheduled to go into service in 1963* Sh® will be a seIf-unloader. EDENFIELD and KATE N.L., two t2 tankers, have been purchased by Upper Lakes and will be converted to 730 foot bulk carriers. A 730 foot vessel is underway for Hall Corporation of Canada at the Fairfield yards of Govan, Scotland. SWEETWATER, which laid at Ecorse for some time, has been towed to Baltimore. ATLANTIC DEALER, a t2 tanker, will be converted to a bulk carrier for Scar Oar Ltd. The vessel has been towed from Mobile, Alabama to the Lakes.
